What is Jurassic Hawai‘i?

In reality it is this: The Jurassic ( juu-RASS-ik) is a geologic period and stratigraphic system that spanned from the end of the Triassic period 201.3 million years ago (Mya) to the beginning of the Cretaceous period, approximately 145 Mya. The Jurassic constitutes the middle period of the Mesozoic era and is named after the Jura Mountains, where limestone strata from the period were first identified.The Jurassic Period was the second segment of the Mesozoic Era. It occurred from 199.6 to 145.5 million years ago , following the Triassic Period and preceding the Cretaceous Period. During the Jurassic Period, the supercontinent Pangaea split apart.

Any image that YOU create and that YOU feel is The Essence of Jurassic Hawai‘i is eligible. A beautiful Hawaiian mountain range, a classic waterfall, a Tyrannosaurus rex in your yard, a pack of Velociraptors on the run through Waikiki. You dream about it. You can enter it.

Any image that goes with this year’s theme will be acceptable. Dinosaurs or not!

Plus we are here to help you. Attend Stephen Burns Photoshop workshops and you too could be a winner of one or more of the epic prizes.

Open to professional photographers, amateur photographers, students, visitors and all residents who are “like minded image creators” of Jurassic Hawaiʻi.

• Judges will determine winners by applying the predetermined criteria.

Contest open for entries on: September 15th, 2021.

This will give everyone lots of time to complete their winning entry.

Winners will be announced on September 30th.
