Gregory Essayan
Photographer
PhaseOne
Virtual Workshop Date: Thursday, Sept. 2nd
Time: 2:30pm – 4pm HST
Workshop Description: WHAT I SEEK TO CAPTURE IN MY WORK IS A FEELING, A MOOD, AN EMOTION, A SENSE OF A PLACE AND OF A TIME.
See how the PhaseOne 1Q4 and XF cameras can capture amazing images in harsh lighting conditions due to their very high dynamic range and ability to sync lighting up to 1/1600 of a second. Greg’s calm demeanor provides a very conducive environment for learning
Greg Essayan will share some of his thoughts, insights and techniques regarding his latest work from Venice and how he packs his jeep, hits the road, and finds art subject matter closer to home with his “Made in America” series. Greg has also spent many years photographing the Hawaiian Islands and will be presenting those images and discussing his perspectives on how he created them.
This will be moderated by Murray Elliott of Mega Pixels Digital, followed by Q & A with Greg Essayan.
About
An attorney by profession, Greg Essayan has developed a successful “shadow career” pursuing his lifelong passion / obsession with photography. His fine art images have now found homes with collectors worldwide and reside in the permanent collection of the Yale Art Gallery. With a new gallery opening in Italy and a book in the making, Greg returned from Italy literally hours before the Covid lockdowns began.
“What I seek to capture in my work is a feeling, a mood, an emotion, a sense of a place and of a time. I am an observer selecting, framing and carefully curating literal reality into a pure, distilled, two dimensional essence able to be savored, studied and enjoyed by the viewer over time.”
